I will focus on ecological management of agricultural insect pests under the direction of Silvia Rondon. Farmers, by no fault of their own, often rely too heavily on pesticides to control pests. I want to develop alternative farming methods and cultural controls that alleviate pest pressure and reduce the necessity of pesticides. I will potentially study management of insects that switch hosts from weeds to cash crops.
