Thanks to your generosity, we recently provided emergency support to one more student -- a master's degree candidate in chemistry -- through the Irma Delson Bridge to the Future Fund. This is the third $500 award issued since last April, and a fourth is expected to be issued in late February.
The Bridge to the Future Fund was developed to rescue students who run out of money when they are very close to finishing their graduate degrees. This is an all too common scenario, according to Irma Delson, a retired OSU administrator in whose honor the fund was created. In her 23 years on campus, she often reached into her own pocket to provide a small financial boost to a student who would otherwise have to give up completing his or her program.
The fund is designed for rapid response, with a simple application and a quick turnaround time. Award applicants must be nominated by their faculty, and only the most compelling cases are considered. Still, the endowment requires a steady flow of donations to meet the demand.
If you'd like to contribute to the Bridge to the Future Fund, or support OSU graduate programs in some other way, please use the OSU Foundation website. Under the "Other" heading, you can specify the Irma Delson Fund in the "Designation Description" box.
Thank you for helping!
