Todd Sandell
Todd Sandell is studying one of the most devastating pathogens of Pacific salmon. Ultimately, his research may help fisheries managers to curb bacterial kidney disease in hatchery salmon and limit transmission to wild salmon, aiding in the recovery of endangered Chinook and coho salmon stocks.

Brian Sloat
Brian Sloat is working to develop an anthrax vaccine that would be administered through the nose. In case of an emergency requiring the mass immunization of a large number of people, an intranasal vaccine could be self-administered without needles and without professionals to do the injecting.

Amber Wilburn wants to build a link between the academic side of public health and the communities that need it most. She envisions opening a center in a low-income area to offer research-based programs in health education, life skills, and social support for women and families of color.
