An International Conference on
Hispanic Film and Fiction

February 24, 25, 26, 2011

Organized by Portland State University, Oregon State University, University of Oregon
and Northwest Film Center/Portland International Film Festival

CINE-LIT VII VENUES:

Most of the sessions will be held on the second floor of the Smith Center on the Portland State University campus.  It is a short (four block) walk from the Modera Hotel.

We will be holding some events in the University of Oregon’s White Stag Building.  It is located on 70 NW Couch Street, and is a short and free ride on the MAX (light rail) from the Modera Hotel or Portland State University campus.

The Portland International Film Festival will be screening all films at the Whitsell Theater on Park Avenue and the Broadway cinemas.  Both venues are a short walk from the Modera Hotel.

One of the highlights of Cine-Lit Conferences is the city of Portland, so plan on spending some time walking around and enjoying the eateries and watering holes.  If you have never been to Portland, you may want to familiarize yourself with downtown by looking at the map of the downtown area on the Cine-Lit VII webpage.

Cine-Lit VII will be organized around the following sessions: Women Cineastes, Cinema and Theatre, Cinema and Ideologies, Cinematographic Adaptations, Marginalized Voices in Cinema, New Films and Directors, Hispanic Cinema in the U.S., and Hispanic Cinema in the Classroom.

SCREENINGS AND CINEMA PASSES:

You will receive a special pass that allows you to attend all Cine-Lit VII screenings.  However, some of the theaters are small and you will be competing with the PIFF’s rabid cinemagoers, SO YOU MUST BE IN LINE WELL IN ADVANCE –at least 20 minutes– OF THE SCREENING TIME.  Please note that your pass DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A SEAT.   Neither Cine-Lit nor the Portland International Film Festival is responsible for a lack of seating.

The Cine-Lit pass will only allow you to see films screened in conjunction with the conference.  If you wish to see other films screened by the PIFF, you may do so at your own expense.  Tickets are available at the PIFF box office.
