Citations/Appeals

Persons wishing to appeal a citation may request in writing to have it reviewed by the Appeal Review Committee. Payment of the citation fine must accompany an appeal within 10 days of issue. If the appeal and payment of the fine are not received within 10 days, appeals will not be reviewed and the fine must still be paid. Student appeals are reviewed initially by the Student Appeals Court. Individuals may request to appear in person at the appeals hearing. Appeal forms may be obtained at the TAPS office or on-line. The decision of the Appeal Review Committee is final and not subject to further appeal.

Fines are payable at the TAPS office Monday—Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fines may also be paid any time by check or money order at drop box locations at the Memorial Union metered lot or Adams Hall. Fines may be reduced if paid within 10 days.

The primary method of making an appeal is in writing.  Any appellant may also arrange to make an oral presentation in support of the written appeal.  Appellants should generally arrange for oral presentations only when the appeal cannot adequately be explained in writing.  Oral presenttions should be consise and generally limited to five (5) minutes.
