Mission:  Provide science for sound management of land, vegetation, and fire in semi-arid ecosystems.

Research:  Solve regional problems and generate principles that apply nationally and internationally to semi-arid land management systems.

Outreach:  Transfer knowledge to public, priveate, and government agencies.

Expertise:  Plant community ecology specifically related to plant succession, structure, and function and the historic role and affects of prescribed and wildand fire in semi-arid ecosystems in the Intermountain West, USA.
