District and University Workshops

District Workshops

Released time and/or funds for substitutes for interested teachers from Corvallis, Lebanon, Lincoln County, Springfield, and the greater Albany schools have been granted by the superintendents of those districts. The project team will be making site visits to schools in the five districts to meet with classroom teachers with English Language Learners (ELLs) and ESOL/bilingual teachers in order to conduct a needs analysis prior to the winter and spring workshop sessions. The content of the workshops will be based on the findings of the needs analysis. Needs analysis was done in spring of 2003 for Fall 2003 workshops.

Winter and Spring Sessions 2004 topics include: understanding poverty, designing and implementing “newcomers” programs, strategies for teaching ELLs, bilingual education programs and more.
