Background
from www.iie.org/ielsp
The Indonesia English Language Study Program (IELSP) is a scholarship program that gives opportunities to undergraduate students across Indonesia to attend eight-week intensive English language programs at select universities in the United States.
For more information about applying to the program, see http://www.iie.org/ieslp
Program objectives
The main objective of this program is to improve the English language proficiency of the participating students.
A secondary objective is to provide participants with greater understanding of American society and culture while developing their critical thinking skills.
These objectives will be achieved through a rigorous and challenging academic program as well as experiences interacting with university students and other American citizens in a variety of settings.

What to Bring
- The climate in Corvallis is generally mild. It is dry and warm in
the summer, colder (-5C to +12C) and wetter in the winter. You will
need a warm jacket and an umbrella in the winter. You can bring them or
buy them here. It very rarely snows in Corvallis, but it rains at least a little bit most days from November to April.
- Casual clothing is OK for class. Many students wear jeans. Students in Oregon do not normally wear formal clothing such as suits and ties to class.
- There are several occasions during the year when international
students have an opportunity to wear the traditional clothing of their
countries. You may want to bring one such outfit.
- Credit cards are widely accepted in the US, and there are many bank teller machines (ATMs) on campus and in Corvallis. It is a good idea not to carry a lot of cash. Most students on campus use debit cards or credit cards for personal purchases.
