Aim :
speaking,writing,practicing grammar and sharing opinions.
Level
: all levels
Time
:30 - 40 minutes.
Preparation
:
Have a big collection of pictures ( taken
from magazines and newspapers ) that are not related to each other at all .
Try not to make it easy for them to create
a story quickly ,just to give them a chance to debate about the events.
Procedure
:
·
Have students in groups of four.
·
Let every group choose randomly a set of five pictures.
·
Ask students to work within their group to create a story depending on
the pictures they have. They can put the pictures in any order they wish.
·
Remind students that five pictures doesn't mean five sentences only or
just five events . They should expand.
·
For beginners and low intermediate you can skip the point of practicing the grammar they've taken to give
them a chance to concentrate on speaking ,creating and vocabulary.
·
For upper intermediate and advanced it would be a good idea to ask them
to use the grammar they've taken .
·
When students are done ,they stand facing their classmates holding the
pictures in the correct order and start telling their story.
If we
have challenging groups ,they can ask
their classmates to guess how their story ends,a kind of extra speaking, and
then they tell their own end.
