The English Language Institute's Computer Room is equipped with
Macintosh PowerPC and other computers, a projection panel for
whole-class viewing, and an extensive collection of writing, reading,
listening, grammar, vocabulary, and general reference software for
English language learning.
During the first week of the term, students can participate in word
processor workshops. Students are encouraged to use and develop their
computer skills throughout the term through CALL (computer-assisted
language learning) courses such as:
Students can use the Internet directly from the Learning Center, where
they have access to e-mail, web browsing and other Internet resources.

Helpful people are as important as high-quality machines and software.
The Learning Center is always staffed with knowledgeable lab assistants
who can help students if they have problems with the computers.
Computer-literate teachers are in the Learning Center as well during
Individualized Directed Learning (IDL) classes.
We feel the Computer Room, with its computers, software and people, is
an important resource for language teaching at the ELI.
