Presentations are a very important part of business communications. Many decisions are based on the quality of a presentations and the effectiveness of the presenter. Giving effective presentations is not something that is learned in a day--good presenters have polished and honed their skills over time and by giving many, many presentations. In order to help you learn this essential and fundamental skill, please keep the following points in mind:

• Practaice, practice, practice--nothing takes the place of plenty of practice and rehersal

• Be prepared--if something can possibly go wrong, it probably will

• Have a back up plan if you are relying on technology or equipment

• Learn to think on your feet--you must be mentally flexible and able to adapt to changing situations

• Allow yourself sufficient time for research and data gathering

• Try to anticipate the questions your audience might ask

• Practice, practice, practice!
