satisfactory progress requirements for the master's degree

The following guidelines apply to full-time students who enter the program in the fall term and have met all prerequisites.

  1. Maintain a 3.0 grade point average, or better, in all courses taken as a graduate student.
  2. Maintain a 3.0 grade point average, or better, in all courses included in the program of study in economics. Note that the program cannot contain any course with a grade below C.
  3. Maintain a 3.0 grade point average, or better, in all required core (micro, macro, and econometrics) courses.
  4. Courses required for program of study must be taken for a grade, not S/U.
  5. File program of study with the Graduate School before completing 18 credits of study.
  6. Complete the master's core courses in micro theory, macro theory and econometrics by the end of the first year.
  7. Complete the course requirements and the thesis within two years.
  8. Maintain satisfactory performance on all Graduate Assistant evaluations.
  9. Enroll in the one credit ECON 507 Faculty Seminar every year.5


5 Normal progress requires that the student enroll for the one credit ECON 507 Faculty Seminar every year. Successful completion of this course requires attendance of at least 75% of the Economics seminars that are scheduled for the academic year.
