About Us

COSEY logoCOSEY is a collaborative academic outreach center that serves the K-20 community in the recruitment and retention of students to science and engineering, with an emphasis on underrepresented groups and is jointly supported by the College of Engineering (COE), College of Science (COS), and OSU Precollege Programs (PCP).

COSEY supports a variety of summer programs on the OSU campus designed to engage students of all ages in science, technology, engineering and math. The academic pipeline begins for students in grades K-5 with the wildly popular Spirited Kids in Engineering and Science (SKIES), offered in conjunction with KidSpirit summer camps. Students explore all realms of science using hands-on activities, from discovering the properties of matter to engineering sea-worthy Kids experimenting with Diet Coke and Mentosboats.

At week-long Saturday Academy camps, middle school students exiting grades 5-8 delve in-depth studying Health Sciences, Lego Robotics, Marine Mammal Ecology and more. Summer opportunities for high school students include Saturday Academy’s Apprenticeships in Science & Engineering for a full summer research experience at locations around Oregon as well the Summer Experience in Science and Engineering for Youth (SESEY), a residential program geared towards women and minorities. Information on these and other summer programs can be found at www.oregonstate.edu/precollege.
