The Oregon State University Data Warehouse permits easy access to centrally stored information. At OSU, the Banner Information System stores all centralized information about students, employees, and financial transactions. The Data Warehouse contains a subset of the information available in Banner and it is optimized for data retrieval and reporting.
Data Warehouse access is based upon each user's job requirements and access level approved by the Department Head or Business Officer. Data Warehouse access is typically only granted to OSU employees that have Banner access in the same module as the Data Warehouse model. A Banner & Data Warehouse Request for Access form must be on file in Enterprise Computing Services for each user that has access.
Each user is responsible for adhering to the Acceptable Use of University Information policy. The Acceptable Use of University Information Policy clearly defines the proper 'Use and Release of Information,' 'Expectations for Responsible Use of Information,' and what happens if there is a 'Violation.' Please refer to this document as necessary to understand and comply with the use of data.
For any additional questions on the use of University data, please refer to the Acceptable Use of University Computing Resources policy.
Training requirements for each model of the Data Warehouse must be met before a user will be granted access to that data.
Data Warehouse users receive support from the System Integrators in Enterprise Computing Services. Access to the SIS (Student), FIS (Finance) and HRIS (Human Resource) models of the Data Warehouse using Hummingbird BI Query and Oracle Net Client is supported. These tools are available free of charge to all OSU departments.
Accessing the Data Warehouse using other methods is permitted. A user's access may be terminated if it is determined that they are causing problems with the Data Warehouse for other users.
