Student Employment Policy & Procedure Manual
Section 100: Undergraduate Student

Persons will be eligible for regular-student employment if they meet ALL of the following criteria:

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Exceptions to full-time enrollment are approved on a case-by-case basis by International Student & Faculty Services. A signed and approved Reduced Course Load form (pdf format) for undergraduates or Reduced Enrollment Request form (pdf format) for graduates should be submitted with hiring paperwork.
Must be 14 years of age or older; continuously enrolled in a learning institution for past Spring term/semester AND intend to enroll for upcoming Fall term/semester OR participating in home schooling program. **PLEASE FLAG PAPERWORK FOR STUDENTS UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE**
Must have continuously attended a learning institution full-time for the past 3 terms (unless newly admitted during the current academic year) OR attending summer classes AND intend to enroll for at least 12 credit hours for up-coming Fall term (unless approved for a reduced course load through International Student & faculty Services).
To be eligible for regular-student employment during breaks in between terms, the student must have been eligible for regular-student employment for the term before the break and must expect to be eligible for the term after the break.
Enrollment in courses registered through Extended campus may count toward student eligibility status, provided they are shown to be appropriate to the student’s planned and continuing course of study.
Persons whose primary educational focus is not to obtain a degree are not eligible for student employment.
The minimum age of eligible students for student employment is 14, with the exception of farm labor. Students under the age of 18 years are restricted in work hours and duties. Please refer to the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) website for child labor laws or the Office of Human Resources at (541) 737-0908.
