Procurement and Contract Services
Section 304: Construction Contracting
Effective: 04/27/2005
To ensure Oregon State University continues to obtain quality construction services and materials.
All campus construction and the procurement for construction materials or services.
In the year 2000, Executive Order E0-00-07 was issued by John A. Kitzhaber, M.D., Governor of Oregon. This Executive Order directs all State of Oregon agencies and employees to develop and promote policies and programs that will help Oregon meet a goal of sustainability by the year 2025.
In support of Executive Order E0-00-07, and because Oregon State University is a land-grant institution committed to the citizens of Oregon and the sustainability of Oregon’s environment, Oregon State University Procurement and Construction Contracting is committed to utilizing procurement practices that emphasize sustainability whenever it is feasible to do so.
When procuring construction services, Oregon State University will strive to balance short and long-term costs, maintenance, life cycle, and costs to the environment in the design and construction of renovation and new construction.
Sustainable construction will apply the methodology of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover." Whenever practicable, attention should be given to the environment through the evaluation of this methodology along with performance, life expectancy, quality, and value for money.
