Research Project Title:

Investigation of the Effectiveness of Supply Chain Transparency Initiatives in the Textiles/Apparel/Footwear Industries:

Project Overview:  (100 words maximum)

Recent regulations related to corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives within the apparel and footwear industries require corporations to provide information to consumers about their supply chain. Such supply chain transparency initiatives are believed to be a positive factor in the ability for consumers and consumer rights groups to compare the corporate social responsibility of corporations. However, little is known about the effectiveness of these regulations and CSR initiatives. An expanded content analysis of corporate web sites, codes of conduct, and factory auditing/monitoring programs designed to assess the compliance of these codes in factory settings will be conducted.
