Research Project Title: Better Eating Starts Today (B.E.S.T.) Project – My Food Phone App
Project Overview
The B.E.S.T. Project aims to measure short-term and longer-term impacts of HHS231, Lifetime Fitness for Health, on college students’ lifestyle, mainly, diet quality and physical activity adequacy. Intervention terms occurred in Fall-2012 (n=287) and Winter-2013 (n~250) where learning enhancements are used. Control terms occur in Winter-2013 and Spring-2013 (n~2,400). This USRA-ENGAGE project will evaluate the effectiveness and impact of a smartphone app developed through this project in improving intervention groups’ intakes of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables (compared to tracking food intake using a paper log and a website).
