Minor in Military Science

To earn a minor in Military science, you must take 27 credits, consisting of 18 credits in Military Science plus three additional classes (3 credits each). Consult the OSU-Cascades catalog for current requirements.

CONTRACTING WITH ARMY ROTC TO BECOME AN OFFICER

All scholarship cadets are contracted with Army ROTC to become Army Officers upon graduation.  Non-scholarship cadets, National Guard cadets, and USAR cadets may contract with Army ROTC as early as their MS II year. All MS III students must be contracted.  All contracted cadets receive a stipend.

SERVICE OBLIGATIONS

All ROTC cadets who receive a commission incur a commitment to serve as an Army Officer:

OREGON ARMY NATIONAL GUARD BENEFITS (Optional Prorgram)

The Adjutant General (TAG) of Oregon will not mobilize students in Army ROTC-- Policy #225.

US ARMY RESERVE BENEFITS (Optional Program)

SIMULTANEOUS MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM (SMP) (for Cadets in the National Guard and the Army Reserve)

Once you are contracted in either the Army National Guard or Army Reserves & Army ROTC, you must join the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP).  You will become an officer in training at your National Guard/Army Reserve unit. You have the option to request commissioning into the Active Army, US Army Reserve, or the Army National Guard. 

CRITICAL LANGUAGE INCENTIVE PROGRAM (CLIP)

All contracted cadets are eligible to participate in this program.  Taking courses in certain critical languages pays from $100 - $250 monthly depending on the course level.
