Requirements for Admission into the
Professional Teacher Education Program

  • Make application during fall term prior to the academic year you wish to begin your program. Two applications are required; one to the School of Education (due to 112 Strand by February 14) and one to the Graduate School. All application materials can be picked up in 112 Strand.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required to advance to the Professional program.
  • Minimum 60 hours of Early Field Experience time, with Supervised Agriculture Experience Programs (SAEP) and the FFA as a part of the Agricultural Science and Technology (AST) program (minimum of 40 classroom hours) (see AED 313).
  • Minimum 8 formal classroom lessons taught (see AED 313).
  • Exposure to and observation of students with a culturally diverse background (see AED 313).
  • Exposure to and observation of students with special needs (see AED 313).
  • California Basic Educational Skills test (CBEST) to be completed by spring term prior to student teaching.
  • PRAXIS test in Agriculture (CA #10900) to be completed by spring term prior to student teaching.
  • Meet with program
