Agricultural Education

Teacher preparation in the College of Agricultural Sciences gives you:

  • Post-baccalaureate option: With this option, you’ll complete a bachelor’s degree in a specialty area in agriculture like animal sciences, agricultural business management or horticulture. Then, you’ll move on to the master’s program to complete the block of courses for an Initial I teacher license and your student teaching.

In the post-baccalaureate program, you’ll complete your master's degree either in spring term or summer term following your student teaching.  You will have the option of taking continuing professional development courses during summers to fulfill continuing licensure requirements.  The Agricultural Education program offers one-week, intensive, workshop courses during summer term, allowing you to maintain your summer employment contracts with a school district and still complete any remaining program requirements or continuing professional development.

Make sure you meet the program’s admission requirements before applying. A link to other Secondary Teacher Education Programs as well as other teacher preparation resources can be found on the College of Education web site.
