TEAM HISTORY
The Silver Talons Drill Team has a long standing presence at Det. 685.
Their presence dates back to the near the beginning of the detachment.
The team originated back in the 1960s. It was originally named the
Silver Wings Drill team. The team later changed the name to Silver Talons
Drill Team because of the Arnold Air Society using the name "Silver
Wings" for one of its sub-organizations. The team was created to
perform exhibition drill for the purpose of AFROTC recruitment and drill
competition.
In the recent years the drill team was used mainly for the purpose
of local exhibition and AFROTC recruitment. The team did not perform
or do as many of events as they are doing now. The team acted as more
of a recreational group then it did as a competition group. Because
of that fact, very little information is known about what the drill
team has done over the past few decades. Fortunately with a boost in
funding and interest, the team has grown into the organizational power
house that it is today.
