![]() Captain Franklin M. Tharp is the Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies and the Operations Flight Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), Detachment 685 at Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon. Captain Tharp is responsible to train Air Force officer candidates through all facets of a comprehensive college program while mentoring the students for successful Air Force careers. Captain Tharp is a 2004 graduate of Officer Training School (OTS). Previously, Captain Tharp spent 12 years as an Avionics Technician as an enlisted member. Captain Tharp has held positions as flight commander, assistant AMU OIC, AMU OIC, and logistics flight commander. Captain Tharp is a career aircraft maintenance officer with assignments in Louisiana, Florida and two deployments. He brings over 19 years of enlisted and officer experience.
