Captain Michael T. Batchelor Jr. is the Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies and Commandant of Cadets, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), Detachment 685 at Oregon State University , Corvallis , Oregon . Captain Batchelor is responsible for all facets of the AFROTC Training Program which includes training, motivating and educating Air Force officer candidates through a comprehensive college program. Captain Batchelor entered active duty service in April 1989 and was selected to attend the Air Force Officer Training School in August 2002. Prior to arriving at Detachment 685, Captain Batchelor was assigned to the 23rd Maintenance Group, Pope Air Force Base North Carolina, home of the world famous Flying Tigers. Capt Batchelor has served in a variety of peacetime and combat positions, to include training, aircraft maintenance and operations. He brings over 18 years of enlisted and officer experience and has deployed in direct support of Operations Desert Storm/Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and the Horn of Africa.
