Warm Welcome to 1st Lt. Burnett
By: Awbrey C

Oregon State Air Force ROTC (reserve officers training corps) has a new face among the cadre, First Lieutenant Burnett. The Lt. has made a few great accomplishments in his Air Force career so far; graduating Summa Cum Laude (with highest distinction) in his class and receiving Top Gun from Field Training while as a ROTC cadet. As well as personally being selected as the primary backup to the Wing Exec as a second lieutenant.
After growing up an Air Force brat during his early years of life, Lt. Burnett, claims Biloxi, Mississippi as his home town. This is the town where he grew up once his father retired from Keesler Air Force base. Lt. Burnett attended Mississippi State University, studying political science and became a cadet in the AFROTC program there.  After commissioning he was stationed up in Alaska at Elmendorf-Richardson joint base, before joining us here at Oregon State University.
Among the few things that Lt. Burnett is wanting to work on are training excellence, and ensuring that as AFROTC cadets we excel in all that we do. While Lt. Burnett does have a couple surprises up his sleeve, he is currently organizing a Medal of Honor memorial in the AS 100 classroom. This is a great way to ensure that the new cadets in the program will learn and recognize those who have sacrificed so much, most of them their lives. As the year goes on however we will see what more there is in store for Detachment 685.
