Joint Service Review: Nearly a Century-Long Tradition
By Jayson S.

The 4 th of May, 2012 was the day of the Joint Service Review (JSR). It is always filled with excitement and anticipation. As for me, it was my third of four JSRs, and the first of three to be cloudy. However, despite the threatening weather, all the cadets and midshipmen looked amazing in their uniforms. The event ran very smoothly and aside from a minor sound system problem which occurred at the end of the ceremony. The event was a resounding success.

Major General Roger Binder was the keynote speaker and General Officer who reviewed us joint ROTC cadets. His words were few, but inspiring and heavy nonetheless. The weather threatened to rain on us, but was kind enough to hold off until the event was over.

The biggest surprise of the event was the fly over. Despite being outdoors, the entire ground shook as the F-15s roared over head. I wanted to cover my ears, but since I was standing at attention in formation, I restrained. All in all, the speaker, the parade, the weather, and the setting all combined to create an awesome Joint Service Review honoring the college, General Binder, the ROTCs of OSU and of course Det 685.
