  1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of 2/10/00 were approved.

  2. REPORT FROM ACADEMIC AFFAIRS:

    1. Leslie Burns recommended rewording of the Category II Permanent Course Request form on the Repeat Value (for courses with variable credit, e.g., 1-16): If students are allowed to repeat this course for credit, indicate the maximum number of credits that students will be allowed to count toward graduation ______ or if students can take this course for an unlimited number of credits, check here ____.

    2. Leslie also made recommendations for rewording the prerequisite and corequisite statements on the Category II form. "This course serves as a prerequisite for the following courses: ______". "This course serves as a corequisite for the following courses: ______".

  3. OLD BUSINESS

    1. Leslie Burns presented suggested revisions of the descriptions for "Repeat Value", and "prerequisites and corequisites" on the Category II proposal form. Recommendations were made and a second draft of the modifications will be reviewed.

    2. Suggestions for the catalog proofing process were also visited. Comments will be incorporated into another draft for the Council's review.

  4. IV. NEW BUSINESS

    1. The role of the Curriculum Council in the review process of Category II proposals was discussed. Leonard Friedman will clarify to the Faculty Senate body that the academic units (colleges, department, programs), should carry the responsibility of ensuring and submitting complete, technically correct, and properly filled out forms. The Council will also continue to review for substantive curricular issues. The staff in Undergraduate Academic Programs will be more responsible for obtaining missing information to ensure the proposal is technically correct.

    2. Discussion occurred over the minimum "C" grade degree requirement that has been established by a number of academic units on campus. Policies from the Curricular Procedures Handbook were distributed and the issue was discussed.

  5. ACTIONS OF THE COUNCIL VIA EMAIL - all proposals are viewable on the World Wide Web, OSU Curriculum Home page: http://osu.orst.edu/dept/academic/aa/curric/
