IV.            OLD BUSINESS

a)   Discussion Category I Proposal:  BA, BS in Education  - L. Friedman

The Council unanimously supports the proposal in principle. However, four issues need to be specifically addressed prior to final review:

1.    Removal of the Adult Development/Youth Development component from the proposal.  It should be considered separately.

2.    Modify the budget to address the additional Library costs and other concerns raised by the Budgets and Fiscal Planning Committee in their April 23 report.

3.    Provide a full-time advisor for the large number of projected dual degree students.

4.    Obtain liaison from a broader group of stakeholders.  Since the Council believes that members of the Professional Teacher Licensing Group represent teacher preparation activity on campus, liaison should be obtained from the chairs/heads of the affected departments.

The changes and additions should be submitted together in a single document.

L. Friedman will notify Sam Stern.  The Council will provide a final review as soon as the revised Category I is provided.

V.              NEW BUSINESS

No new business.

L. Friedman recessed the Curriculum Council meeting at 3:00 pm.

NEXT MEETING: Thursday, May 1, 1:15-3:00pm in the MU Board Room.
