Summer 2015 Positions

Classification:     Experimental Biology Aide - 17 positions

Salary:                $2,110-$2,188/mo (depending on experience) - Medical, dental, and life plans available

Locations:          Central Point, Grants Pass, Roseburg, Gold Beach, Corvallis, Tillamook, Astoria, Sauvie Island
Duration:            June 1 – September 30, 2015*

Duration:            June 22 – September 30, 2015*

  project needs, funding, or factors beyond the Project’s control.
                         
Job Description:  The employees in this position will conduct juvenile snorkel and habitat surveys in Oregon streams. Duties include:

* Describing channel morphology and instream habitat characteristics.
* Assessing distribution and abundance of juvenile fish.
* Keeping accurate and clear data records. 
* Hiking into and along streams daily. 
* Working in hot, cold, rainy weather and over rough terrain.
* Occasional camping or backpacking in remote areas. 
* Communicating with the public to gain access to private land and to explain monitoring activities.

Experience in fish sampling and habitat surveys is preferred, but standardized training will be provided.  Employees must be self-motivated, willing to work under a variety of conditions, and responsible for the quality of data collected.  Candidates with related field experience and a college background in a natural resource field such as fish and wildlife, biology-related fields, geology or hydrology-related fields will be given preference for interviews.

Applicants must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.  The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will check driving records for in-state finalists.  Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current driving record for review.
