Classification: Experimental Biology Aide - 12 positions
Locations: Corvallis, Eugene, Roseburg, Central Point, Coos Bay, Gold Beach, Grants Pass, Sauvie Island, Clackamas
Duration: June 18 – September 21, 2012
Description: The employees in these positions will be conducting habitat
surveys in Oregon streams.
* Describing channel morphology and in-stream habitat characteristics.
* Assessing distribution and abundance of fish and amphibians.
* Keeping accurate and clear data records.
* Hiking into and along streams daily.
* Working in hot, cold, rainy weather or in rough terrain.
* Camping or backpacking in remote areas.
* Communicating with the public to gain access to private land and to explain our activities.

http://oregonstate.edu/Dept/ODFW/freshwater/inventory/index.htm. Experience in fish sampling and habitat surveys is preferred, but standardized training will be provided. Training will be conducted the first week of employment (June 18 – June 22) and is MANDATORY. Employees must be self-motivated, willing to work under a variety of conditions, and responsible for the quality of data collected. Candidates with related field experience and a college background in a natural resource field such as fish and wildlife, biology, or geology will be given preference for interviews.
Applicants must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will check driving records for in-state finalists. Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current driving record for review.
