Habitat Analysis and Application

Habitat Analysis and Application

Project Objectives

The Habitat Analysis and Application Project developed as a service function of the Aquatic Inventory Project. As of June 1995, data for over 500 streams and 4500 stream miles have been summarized by reach characteristics. Providing access to this information and facilitating application of survey data to management decisions is a primary function of the new project.

In the comming months, we will be posting summary files from the survey data to our FTP site. An index to the data, explaination of the file structure, and example queries will appear on this page. Questions about access and requests for specific information can be forwarded to Kelly via the e-mail connection.

Currently, much of the project focus is to support habitat restoration and planning efforts in a cooperative effort between ODFW, the Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation, and various timber industry and other private landowners. We identify sections of streams with good potential for restoration activities from data provided by the Aquatic Inventories Project. We have recently completed a document to guide habitat restoration activities in the Nehalem, Tillamook and Nestucca basins. Complementary projects are underway for mid-coast and south-coast basins.
