At NWREC since: July 2013
Duties: I support both the blueberry rootstock research program and the Spotted Wing Drosophila program. I work on seed germination, growing seedlings and tissue cultured plantlets, growing rootstock materials in the greenhouse and I manage the work in the greenhouse, including pest control. In the field I take growth data of the rootstock plants, harvest fruit, assess fruit quality and maintain field experiment plots by managing irrigation and pests and diseases. I am also involved with field experiments to determine best management practices to control SWD in commercial blueberry fields.
Research Interests: IPM in agricultural systems and bees- both native and the European honey bee.
Education: Crook County High School, Southern Oregon U (BS in biology and chemistry), Virginia Tech (MA in entomology)
Home Town: Prineville, OR, although I spent all of my vacations in Berkeley, CA.
