Friends of NWREC
We all need friends, and so does the North Willamette Research and Extension Center. Declining state and federal budgets and reduced grant resources has made it more and more difficult to conduct the important research and education that NWREC has been known for and our local farmers need.
The Friends of North Willamette Research and Extension Center is a new campaign to raise an additional $100,000 of funding each year outside our traditional sources provided by state, federal, and county governments and our grant and contract partners. We see these additional dollars as an important way to diversify our funding, provide important new resources to help maintain the infrastructure of NWREC that will benefit all of our programs, and to focus attention on needed public outreach to the Portland metropolitan area—the most food and fiber dependent region in the state.
Annual Friends of NWREC Harvest Dinner a Great Success!
Supporters of the North Willamette Research and Extension Center gathered together, September 30th 2016, for the fifth annual Friends of NWREC Harvest Dinner. In all, over 175 people were in attendance including stakeholders, state legislators, county commissioners, industry leaders and faculty members. It was a great event and just one way to offer a big thank you to our many great Friends and supporters!
