IIFET 2010 Montpellier Aquaculture Economics Professional Travel Awards Instructions

Please read and follow these steps very carefully.
Applicants must be aquaculture economics professionals (that is, not students) from developing countries
1. Submit your 250 word abstract through the normal abstract submission process. You must use the early bird (October 30, 2009 deadline) review process. Visit http://www.colloque.ird.fr/iifet-2010/ to submit your abstract online.
2. Once your abstract has been accepted, you may proceed to the next step: create an extended abstract, up to one page (A4 or 8.5" x 11") single spaced, with the title and authors at the top. Keep in mind that this is a competitive award, so provide as much useful information about your research as possible. Email the extended abstract to Ann.L.Shriver@oregonstate.edu by January 20, 2010.
3. In the body of your email, please provide a brief request, indicating the approximate amount of funds you will need, and the line items you need help with. Keep in mind that the maximum amount you can request is $1500, and that free conference registration is provided with this award. Example:
"Dear IIFET,

I would like to request assistance with the following travel costs, to enable me to attend the IIFET 2010 Montpellier conference.

Airfare: $X
Lodging: X nights at $X
Meals: $X "

4. The following factors may be taken into consideration in the selection process:
a. Quality of abstract (this is the primary consideration.)
b. Regional and gender balance
c. Your ability to leverage this award with additional funds from other sources. That is, the less you ask for, the more likely you are to receive an award.
5. Remember that these awards will be highly competitive, and continue to seek support from other sources.
6. The awardees will be selected by February 20, 2008; all participants will be informed of the results by email as soon as possible after that date.
7. The funds allotted for these awards must be expended in a fashion consistent with the rules of Oregon State University. Further information on options will be provided to the award winners by IIFET Executive Director Ann Shriver.
This prize is supported by the Aquaculture & Fisheries Collaborative Research Support Program (AquaFish CRSP).
