IIFET 2008 Vietnam: JIFRS-Yamamoto Awards

Please read and follow these steps very carefully.
1. Submit your abstract through the normal abstract submission process. It makes no difference whether you use the early bird (October 20, 2007 deadline) or regular (January 20, 2008 deadline) process. Any participant from a developing country who presents a paper which is useful in encouraging the rational development of responsible national fisheries in his or her own country is eligible to apply for a JIFRS Yamamoto Prize. Up to two prizes of $500 each will be offered. Visit http://www.x-cd.com/iifet08/abstract.cfm to submit your abstract online. If you are unable to use the website, contact Dr. Hao Le Van to request an emailable submission form.
2. Once your abstract has been accepted, you may proceed to the next step: preparation of the paper. Please do not submit a paper for consideration unless your abstract is accepted by the Scientific Committee. Check the conference website for formatting instructions and template; these will be available by February 20, 2008. If you need guidelines earlier, please contact Ann.L.Shriver@oregonstate.edu. Please carefully follow the formatting guidelines. Failure to do so will result in your paper being returned to you for reformatting. Please don't make us do this; it's a huge waste of everyone's time. If you have questions, please consult with us well before the submission deadline. Papers which do not meet the requirements-especially in terms of length-will not be submitted to the committee for review. The deadline is April 20, 2008. Email your paper, in Word (or Word Perfect) and PDF format, to Dr. Yoshi Matsuda at matsuday2006@yahoo.co.jp, with a copy to Ann.L.Shriver@oregonstate.edu.

Note: if you are unable to create a PDF document, you may contact Kara Keenan at iifet@oregonstate.edu and request help. Please be sure to do so at least one week prior to the submission deadline. You MUST review carefully and approve any PDF document she may create for you. We are not responsible for errors that may occur in document translation.
3. Up to two winner(s) will be selected by May 20, 2008; all contestants will be informed by Dr. Yoshi Matsuda, by email. The winner will receive $500 in cash, and an award certificate, at the IIFET 2008 Vietnam Conference. Additional travel support in the amount of $1,000 in cash will be reimbursed by Dr. Tadashi Yamamoto, administered by Dr. Yoshi Matsuda at the award ceremony during the IIFET 2008 Vietnam conference. Please do not contact the IIFET Secretariat, or the Nha Trang University conference secretariat, for information about this award; please send all correspondence to Dr. Matsuda.

Note: any expenses in excess of $1000 must be covered by the prize winners. The prize winner is required to present his/her own paper at the conference, and the winning paper must be submitted for inclusion in the conference proceedings.
4. The $500 in cash, and a certificate, will be presented at an award ceremony during the IIFET 2008 Vietnam conference, and the winners' name(s) will be announced during the conference and in the conference program.
5. The Review Committee may, if appropriate, elect to award honorable mentions. Honorable mention winners will receive a certificate at the award ceremony during the conference. No financial award is associated with an Honorable Mention.
Note: JIFRS-Yamamoto applicants may be poster presenters, but must submit a full paper for the competition.
