IIFET 2008 Vietnam: CRSP Best Student Aquaculture Paper Award
| Please read and follow these steps very carefully.
|
| 1. |
Submit your abstract through the normal abstract submission
process. It makes no difference whether you use the early bird (October 20, 2007 deadline) or
regular (January 20, 2008 deadline) process. Visit http://www.x-cd.com/iifet08/abstract.cfm
to submit your abstract online. If you are unable to use the website, contact
Dr. Hao Le Van to request an emailable submission form.
|
| 2. |
Once your abstract has been accepted, you may proceed to the
next step: preparation of the paper. Your paper should be on a topic of relevance to aquaculture
economics in the developing world. Please do not submit a paper for consideration unless your abstract
is accepted by the Scientific Committee. Check the
conference website for formatting instructions
and template; these will be available by February 20, 2008. If you need guidelines earlier, please
contact Ann Shriver at Ann.L.Shriver@oregonstate.edu. Please
carefully follow the formatting guidelines. Failure to do so will result in your paper being returned
to you for reformatting. Please don't make us do this; it's a huge waste of time for everyone. If you
have questions, please consult with us well before the submission deadline. Papers which do not meet
the requirements-especially in terms of length-will not be submitted to the committee for review. The
deadline is April 20, 2008. Email your paper, in Word (or Word Perfect) and PDF format, to
Ann.L.Shriver@oregonstate.edu.
Note: if you are unable to create a PDF document, you may contact Kara Keenan at
iifet@oregonstate.edu and request help. Please be sure
to do so at least one week prior to the submission deadline. You MUST
review carefully and approve any PDF document she may create for you. We are not responsible for
errors that may occur in document translation.
|
| 3. |
In addition to submitting your paper, please submit an
IIFET Attestation of Student Status form.
Please note: no additional letter of reference is required. Please do not send any.
Simply ensure that your major professor or department chair attests to the fact that you are/were a
student (at least until April 20, 2007), and that you are the primary author of the paper, on the
Attestation Form.

| 4. |
The winner will be selected by May 20, 2008; all contestants
will be informed by email. The winner will receive a $500 check, and an award certificate, at the
IIFET 2008 Vietnam Conference. Nha Trang University will provide free conference registration to the
winner of this prize. Additional travel support in the amount of up to $2,000 will be administered by
the IIFET Secretariat. If desired, IIFET will provide you with an air ticket through our travel agent,
pay for your lodging, and/or provide you with money for food and related travel expenses. You will need
to comply with the travel reimbursement procedures of Oregon State University. IIFET Executive Director
Ann Shriver will provide further detailed information to the winner.
Note: any expenses in excess of $2000 must be covered by the prize winner. The prize
winner is required to present his/her own paper at the conference, and the winning paper must be submitted
for inclusion in the conference proceedings.
|
| 5. |
The $500 check, and a certificate, will be presented at an
award ceremony during the IIFET 2008 Vietnam conference, and the winner's name will be announced
during the conference and in the conference program. The winner will also be required to submit
a 1-2 page report detailing the benefits provided by conference participation, to the IIFET Secretariat.
|
| 6. |
The Review Committee may, if appropriate, elect to award honorable mentions. Honorable mention winners will receive a certificate of award at the award ceremony during the conference. No financial award is associated with an Honorable Mention.
