We invite and encourage participation in IIFET 2000 by:
  • academic researchers in economics and other social, biological, and food science disciplines
  • industry members from fishing, food processing, and marketing enterprises
  • government regulators and fisheries managers
  • representatives of NGOs and international organizations from every fishing country and region of the world
  • any other individual with an interest in the conference topics.
Economic analysis is being enriched through the formation of research alliances with scholars from other disciplines, and new insights are emerging. IIFET 2000 will advance this process for the natural resource sectors in general and fishereis in particular. It will also encourage collaboration among analysts, resource managers, and resource users, in both the private and public sectors. This three-way partnership will help deepen understanding of human and market behavior, its effect on fisheries, and the consequences of public policies -- from resource management to international trade.
