Evening Dinner Options

Tuesday and Wednesday evening meals are not included in the Conference Registration fee. Participants and companions may choose among the restaurants in Corvallis for dinner on their own, or select among the options described below, arranged especially for you. July has wonderful, warm evenings and local citizens can often be found participating in activities like those described below.


Tuesday evening:

Spirit Mountain Casino Dinner Trip Owned and operated by the Native American Grand Ronde Tribe, Spirit Mountain is the largest casino in the Northwest. The $10 price covers your evening's bus transportation to and from the casino. Dinner is on your own at any of the five casino restaurants. Prices range from inexpensive to moderate ($5-$15). If you have ever wanted to visit a Native American casino, this one should not be missed. Participants must be at least 21 years old.

Avery Park All American Picnic Enjoy a traditional American picnic dinner in a beautiful 75 acre urban park. We will also organize some typical summer games if you wish to observe or join in. Avery Park has stately old trees, rose and rhododendron gardens, a river, playgrounds, picnic areas, hiking trails, ballfields, horseshoe courts, and a historic locomotive. Price: $20 per person, $40 per family.

Wednesday evening:

Winery Visit with Gourmet Picnic Dinner Over the last 15 years Oregon has produced some of the best wines in the world. Tyee Winery, located on a picturesque century farm that has 400-year old cathedral oak trees, walking trails, and a natural wetlands, has won many awards for its wines. You will sample a variety of wines, enjoy good music, and eat a catered gourmet dinner. Price: $45 per person. Participants must be at least 21 years old.

"Walk in the Woods: Fish Friendly Forestry Management" Join us at Starker Forest and Thompson Lake, near Corvallis, Oregon, for a barbecue dinner by the lake and a tour of Starker Forest (a privately owned and managed forest) that will demonstrate and review forest management practices that support and enhance fish health and survival. A team of experts will lead the tour: Company Owner, Head Forester, Forest Engineer, Watershed Specialist, Extension Forester.This is a unique opportunity to visit private forestry land and interact with a respected timber company. Techniques will be explained and demonstrated where possible. Questions will be encouraged and answered honestly. The tour will be restricted to 35 participants to allow maximum opportunity for questions and detailed discussion. Cost: $35 (includes transportation and dinner).
