Burns, Oregon, located in the high desert of southeastern Oregon, is the county seat and largest town in Harney County. Harney County is 10,228 square miles in size (one of the largest counties in the country) and has a population of approximately 7500 people with the majority of the people living in Burns or nearby Hines. At an elevation of 4200 feet above sea level Burns averages 300 days of sunshine a year. Average high temperatures in summer are in the mid 80's and lows in the winter average in the teens.
