The Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center (EOARC) Burns location, cooperatively run by Oregon State University and USDA-Agricultural Research Service, is located in southeastern Oregon about 5 miles south of Burns, Oregon on highway 205. Research at the center is primarily conducted on 640 acres of state land south of Burns referred to as "Section 5" and 16,000 federally owned acres on the Northern Great Basin Experimental Range (NGBER) located west of Burns about 35 miles.

Funding for EOARC is split between the Oregon State Unversity Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) . Ten full-time scientists, two state and eight federal, are stationed at the Burns location. One EOARC scientist is stationed in Corvallis.
