Questions Frequently Asked of the Dean of Student Life:

What is the difference between the Dean of Student Life and an Academic Dean? The Dean of Student Life office can provide assistance with student matters outside of the academic setting such as illness, injury, personal or family emergency, or OSU community well-being. Persons often land in the Dean of Students Office when they are not clear about where to turn for help. The staff can assist with identifying options. An Academic Dean is more likely to be involved with academic policies standards and other issues involving the academic setting.
My problem seems very complex and confusing. It also involves a lot of different
offices and I just don't know where to start. What should I do? The Dean of Student Life office is particularly well equipped to help sort out complex issues and know what office to contact for further help or guidance. Feel free to contact the Dean of Student Life office at (541) 737-8748.
To whom should I report the death of a currently enrolled OSU student? If a death of a student occurs, Dean of Student Life needs to be contacted immediately for the necessary departments to be notified. The office number is (541) 737-8748.

Where can I go for help when the Dean of Student Life office is closed? The Dean of Student Life office is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. If assistance is needed during the evening or on weekends, you may contact any of the following departments:
