Users still report seeing Malware warnings when navigating to oregonstate.edu sites. The most recent warnings are due specifically to Firefox not clearning it's internal database when marking suspect sites.
The message states:
Reported Attack Site!
This web site at oregonstate.edu has been reported as an attack site and has been blocked based on your security preferences.
Attack sites try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system.
Some attack sites intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners.
If you see this, first try the following steps before reporting it as an issue to Central Web Services.
First ensure that the warnings do not exist in another browser, like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Safari. If not, then perform the following -
1. Exit Firefox completely - there should be no Firefox browsers running 2. Do a windows search and search for the file name urlclassifier3.sqlite, make sure the option to search on hidden files is selected 3. Delete any of the urlclassifier3.sqlite files 4. Do the same search for urlclassifier2.sqlite 5. Restart Firefox
On Mac OSX:
1. Exit Firefox completely - there should be no Firefox browsers running 2. If on a Mac, navigate to <user>/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/<profile folder>/ and delete the urlclassifier2.sqlite and/or urlclassifier3.sqlite file. 3. Restart Firefox
