The Campus Map is a tool intended to give an interactive map of the Oregon State University campus. The Campus Map has the following features: two means of finding buildings, zooming and panning functions, selection of different features of information, a printer friendly version of the map, and the generation a link for a custom map presentation.
The Campus Map provides two ways of locating buildings. The first uses a list of building names where, if a name is selected, that building will be marked on the map. The second allows you to click on the map image itself. The map will then find the closest building to where you clicked, mark it with a star, and provide the name of that building.
Two key features of the Campus Map are zooming and panning. Zooming the map refers to the abiity to change the magnification of the map image. If you "zoom in" it means that you are increasing the magnification of the map image. Likewise, to "zoom out" means the opposite. Panning is a tool used when you want to see adjacent parts of the map image that are not currently on the screen.
The Campus Map divides different kinds of features that can be toggled on and off depending on your needs. The most basic of these features are those that show the positions of buildings, streets, and the respective names or abreviations across campus. Other features include information such as parking zones, campus shuttle routes, and dining areas.
The Campus Map provides the user with the ability to create a link for a custom map. This link can be used with web sites, in e-mails, or even for advertizing and event location. This can be helpful for illustrating a location within the OSU campus.
A full list of locations is also available for an alternative method of navigation.
The Campus Map project is maintained, refined, and updated by Central Web Services.
