CTL Welcomes New Program Director!

Kay Sagmiller joins the Center for Teaching and Learning from Southern Oregon University, where she was the Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment. She supports ongoing professional development of all faculty and staff through one-on-one consultations, institutes, essays, and research. Kay graduated from the Danforth Principal Preparation program, completed her masters in secondary curriculum, and her Ph. D. in curriculum and instruction at the University of Washington. Her career has included a rich blend of teaching, administration, and research in public schooling from the elementary level through higher education. The majority of her research has been an examination of how people's perception of leadership and curriculum influence the development of effective learning cultures.

Kay facilitates workshops in program development and the teaching and assessing of thinking. She will also conduct a study group in alternative methods of assessing Teaching quality.
