I have been strongly influenced by Relational-Cultural Therapy, as I view the individual as an interdependent self-in-relation versus an autonomous entity. I value authenticity and shared power in the therapeutic relationship whenever possible. I see self-empathy is a crucial process in cultivating mental health and in developing healthy relationships with others. I also identify deeply with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and incorporate mindfulness practice, cognitive defusion strategies, values exploration, and committed action into my work with clients. I am firmly committed to social justice and empowerment through clinical work, outreach and advocacy and am fascinated by the interplay of privileged and oppressed identities within individuals.
I strive to emulate the wisdom and compassion of the supervisors I was so fortunate to encounter in my training experiences. I have greatly enjoyed my experiences as an individual and group supervisor, Practicum Coordinator, and group co-leader with mentees in various levels of training and find that I am deeply enriched through these contacts. I have a nurturing and supportive supervisory style informed by Relational-Cultural Therapy and ACT. I aspire to facilitate the development of individual strengths, while providing direct feedback about any challenges that arise. I value assisting trainees in navigating organizational systems and providing a safe environment for exploring difficulties that may occur. I aim to share power when possible and to self-disclose when appropriate.
I extend a warm welcome to prospective interns! I am passionate about meditation and yoga practice, exploring the great outdoors on foot, bicycle or skis, savoring food and music, and deepening relationships with friends and family. I share my home with two mischievous cats and a loyal Australian shepherd, who is an excellent companion on any adventure.
