Abstract Submission Information

The Oregon Sea Grant Pathways to Resilence Conference Steering Committee solicits presentations and posters that address:

  • the attributes of resilient ecosystems
  • changes in management necessary to promote resilience of salmon ecosystems, and
  • ideas for incorporating resilience into salmon recovery planning.

We encourage proposals for presentations and posters that explore "resilience case studies" for a variety of geographic locales, spatial scales, and ecosystem types and that offer general lessons for salmon management, ecosystem restoration, and recovery planning. Although salmon are a focus of the conference, we also seek case studies of other ecosystems and resource management issues that will illustrate common attributes of resilience among interconnected social and ecological systems. The steering committee is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaborations that synthesize the biological, physical, social, and economic dimensions of resilient ecosystems. We encourage analysis of long-term datasets to provide innovative perspectives on variation in salmon or other biological resources under contrasting environmental and management conditions.

From selected conference presentations, the steering committee will solicit manuscripts for a dedicated issue of a peer-reviewed scientific journal or book.

Deadlines:

  • The deadline for abstracts has been extended! Abstracts will be accepted until sessions are filled. Preference is given to early submissions.
  • Notification sent to authors re: abstract approval by January 24, 2007.
