Travel Information
ASV
2007 will be held in Corvallis, Oregon on the campus of Oregon State
University. With its central location between large cities, mountains
and the Oregon Coast, it is no wonder that the name Corvallis means
"Heart of the Valley". With over 50 parks and hundreds of
miles of running and bicycle paths, Corvallis is an outdoor lover's
paradise.
Airport
Information:
Corvallis is served by the Portland International Airport (PDX) which
is approxmately 90 minutes to the North. Shuttle services is available
every 90 minutes and will take you directly to the OSU campus. Additionally,
the Eugene Regional Airport is located 45 minutes to the South of
Corvallis and offers shuttle service on-demand to OSU.
Airport Transportation:
ASV '07 organizers are arranging special transportation from Portland International Airport (PDX) on Saturday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 18, 2007. The cost is $65 per person round-trip. You can register for this special airport transportation on the ASV '07 registration form.Update: The ASV '07 organized airport shuttle schedule has been posted. Driving
Directions:
Corvallis is located off of Interstate 5. If you plan to rent a car
at either PDX or the Eugene Airport, driving directions to OSU's meeting
facilities can be found here.
Obtaining
Visas to Enter the United States:
Currently 27 countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program, which
enables citizens of these countries to travel to the US for tourism
and business for 90 days or less, without obtaining a visa. More information
can be found at: www.travel.state.gov.
Letters of Invitation:
Individuals requiring an official letter of invitation to attend the meeting may address their request to the office of the Secretary-Treasurer of the AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR VIROLOGY. This procedure is designed to assist participants who need to obtain a visa or permission to attend the meeting. The letter does not imply that any part of the registration fees or other expenses will be assumed by the ASV or meeting organizers. Please email your requests to asv@asv.org.
