Professional Development

The Women's Studies Program at Oregon State University believes that professional development is an important part of feminist education and encourages students to participate in professional organizations and conferences.

OSU's Women Studies Program is an institutional member of the National Women's Studies Association. NWSA promotes and supports feminist teaching, research, and activism. Its annual conference provides an opportunity for feminists to gather for dialogue and collective action. We offer financial support to assist students in attending the conference. A panel of undergraduate and graduate students presented on "Mothering as a Women's Studies Student" at the Oakland conference in June 2006. In previous years, other students have presented with OSU faculty members on topics such as teaching Women Studies on the web.

We also encourage students to present at OSU's own Conference on Gender and Culture, sponsored by the OSU Women's Center. The conference also brings important activists and scholars to offer keynote addresses on a wide variety of feminist topics.
