MAIS Core Requirements
1. M.A.I.S. Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Primary Area
Students must complete a minimum of 18 credits which include the following required courses plus thesis or non-thesis credits:
- WGSS 514 Systems of Oppression in Women's Lives
- WGSS 516 Theories of Feminism
- WGSS 580 International Women
- WGSS 510 Internship 3 - 6 credits
- WGSS 518 Feminist Research (required for thesis option only)
2. M.A.I.S. Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Secondary Area
Students must complete a minimum of 12 credits which include the following required courses:
- WGSS 516 Theories of Feminism
- WGSS 514 Systems of Oppression
- WGSS 580 International Women
Many students elect Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies as both primary and secondary areas. They must complete a minimum of 30 credits in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies of the 45 required for the M.A.I.S. degree, plus thesis and non-thesis credits. The required core courses may be spread across these two areas. See above for area of specialization.
