ENG 322 Globe, Text, and Event - Literary and Cultural Legacies of 9/11

ENG 322 Globe, Text & Event - Literary and Cultural Legacies of 9/11

In some ways, the trauma of September 11, 2001 has diminished; in other ways, its cultural and political effects, here in the United State but also around the world, are still developing. With more than a decade having passed since the event itself, this course goes back to the archive of texts produced in the U.S.A. in the aftermath of 9/11 to consider its literary and cultural legacies and representations. As well as reading novels, poems, graphic novels, and non-fiction dealing with 9/11, we will consider its artistic and theoretical legacies with the help of critical concepts borrowed from trauma theory, psychoanalysis, and media studies.
