OSU Prof Evan Gottlieb takes up his pen for the Huffington Post
In conjunction with the publication of a new book and a forthcoming edited collection on 18th and 19th century British literature, Professor Evan Gottlieb was invited to write for the Huffington Post on the value of reading literature from earlier periods. Professor Gottlieb has just published Walter Scott and Contemporary Theory (Bloomsbury Academic, 2013), which combines cutting-edge theoretical methodologies and ideas with interpretations of the most famous historical novels of Sir Walter Scott (http://www.bloomsbury.com/us/walter-scott-and-contemporary-theory-9781441120229).
His forthcoming edited collection Representing Place in British Literature and Culture: 1660 - 1830: From Local to Global (Ashgate 2013), co-edited with Juliet Shields, contains essays from international scholars on local/global issues. Gottlieb is also under contract to edit a new (2nd edition) of Tobias Smollett’s eighteenth-century comic novel, The Expedition of Humphery Clinker, for the Norton Critical Editions series. The Norton series is taught widely in college classrooms.
